We can't maintain the roads we have now.

What are they defining as the battery pack for that number? Because everything I have read says the Taycan has 330 lbs of battery. Most of that 1,400lb number probably comes from the battery enclosure being the source of a lot of the chassis structure.

“ It’s a four-door sedan built on a unique, primarily steel and aluminum architecture with a 1,389-pound battery pack bolted between its axles. That pack contains a 331-pound aluminum battery tray filled with 33 modules, each containing twelve LG pouch cells”

“ The Porsche Taycan is a ridiculously heavy sedan, weighing in at over 5,100 pounds, or more than a well-equipped SuperCrew Ford F-150 . And while that’s a scary thing to hear when you’re talking about a performance car, the reality is that Porsche has been in the business of making heavy cars handle well for years now—see also the Porsche Cayenne, Macan, and Panamera”

Been talking about fixing the roads in Michigan and the Republicans idea is cut services the Democrats plan is to raise taxes meanwhile we have the highest load rating in the country.
Took my public conversation to the internet. Whoopsy

So a 1,000lb structural steel element that contains 300lbs of battery. It seems like they are trying to sensationalize it by trying to claim that a structural component of the chassis is additional weight unique to it being an EV.

I didn’t know those cars were associated with handling well

If it’s much over a normal semi, it won’t be popular since they still have a combined max weight of 80k in most states.

True.

To me, that reads as a 331 lbs aluminum structural tray filled with ~ 105 0 lbs of battery cells.

Yeah, same here. Regardless,
the structure is integral to it all.

When your electric “sport sedan” outweighs modern minivans you’re clearly doing something wrong....
